Martha and Mary's

A warm and friendly community cafe, situated on Chillingham Road in the heart of Heaton which was setup and is run by volunteers from local churches.

Hot and cold drinks as well as snacks and light lunches are available, all at a very reasonable price. Fair-trade products are used where possible. There is also free Wi-Fi and daily newspapers to enjoy.

You will always find a welcome smile and a listening ear. You can often hear music from the school above the cafe. Close your eyes and you would never think you are in the middle of the hustle and bustle of multicultural Heaton.

For more  information or to enjoy the hospitality and company provided by our friendly volunteers please call in to Martha and Mary's which can be found at 212 Chillingham Road, Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne, or give us a call on (0191) 2289078.

We are open weekdays 10am to 2pm and every first and third Saturday of the month between 10.30 am and 2pm.

We are always looking for volunteers to help in the coffee shop so we can extend our opening hours. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Elizabeth Screen on (0191) 2650329.
